August Update
Ivan Peters | July 31, 2009How good was the weather and jumping activity on Sunday last weekend (10 loads)? Congrats to all of those S/L first jump students that got in the air and then couldn’t resist the urge to complete further progression jumps. We even got a bunch of sport jumpers out there to fill the plane for hop n pops and a couple of altitude loads. A big thanks to all those involved.
Unfortunately, we’ve called off jumping activity for this weekend (August 1st-2nd) given the marginal weather forecast.
We’re continuing to work on a medium term plan to provide aircraft coverage while the ASI ZK-CRW is still undergoing repairs. We have established a good relationship with the owner of the C172 and C206 from Matamata but these aircraft are not always available. Although we’re keen to once again hire an aircraft for upcoming weekends this will have to be confirmed on a week to week basis at this stage.
We’re also planning towards a ‘packing training afternoon’ on Wednesday, August 12th (1430 onwards) during the RNZAF Wednesday Sport Arfternoons. The intent is to provide instruction on parachute packing for the student jumpers. You need to be cleared to pack to attain your A licence so make the most of this opportunity and get the ball rolling early. More details here as we have them.
